Leave both time fields blank to mark a day off. A day with identical clock-in and clock-out times counts as 0 hours unless you turn on the 24-hour-shift toggle above.

The overtime threshold is a simple weekly cutoff you control — it doesn't reflect any specific legal requirement. Overtime rules vary by employer and jurisdiction.

How the time card is calculated

Each day's hours come from its clock-in and clock-out times, minus its unpaid break. Days are summed for a weekly total, then split into regular and overtime hours based on your threshold.

Daily hours = Clock out − Clock in − Unpaid break (overnight shifts add 24h to clock out) Weekly total = Sum of all daily hours Regular hours = min(Weekly total, Overtime threshold) Overtime hours = max(0, Weekly total − Overtime threshold)

Frequently asked questions

What overtime threshold does the time card use?
By default it's 40 hours per week, but you can change the threshold field to match your employer's policy or local rules. Hours worked beyond the threshold are shown as overtime.
Can I leave days blank?
Yes. Any day without both a clock-in and clock-out time is treated as a day off and counted as zero hours.
Does it support overnight shifts?
Yes. If a day's clock-out time is earlier than its clock-in time, that day is treated as an overnight shift crossing into the next day.
What if clock-in and clock-out are the same time?
By default that day counts as 0 hours, since matching times are usually an unfilled field rather than an intentional entry. To record a genuine full 24-hour shift, turn on the "Identical clock-in/clock-out = full 24-hour shift" toggle below the table.
